| We have had an exciting and productive school
year with much to be proud of. We must remember that API scores do little in reflecting
the energy and contributions our entire staff puts forth toward the many
and varied educational goals we have. The successes of our students are the
result of tireless efforts of every teacher, counselor,
administrator, clerical and custodial staff member. You are appreciated. Therefore, it is our pleasure to acknowledge some of the achievements
in the 2002 - 2003 school year and those individual whose efforts
deserve recognition. Up front, we must offer a disclaimer.
Because there are over 200 teachers, counselors, administrators, clerical,
custodial and other support faculty and staff, some individuals will be
overlooked. This was in no way intentional and we sincerely apologize if
we slighted or missed anyone. Please see the final Kudo, and subsequent
message.

Kudo to Rochelle Kronstadt "Reseda High School Teacher of the
Year" for her leadership of the Academic Decathlon Team. This
year our team went to the State and then National Academic Decathlon
Competitions.
A Kudo to Doris Barela Fossen for another successful year as Senior
Sponsor, a fabulous senior prom, her work organizing the Pancake
Breakfast and Literacy Fair

Kudo to Yolanda Dave, for her efforts as assistant Faculty Social
Committee Chair, for hosting the Holiday Party and providing social
services and recognition to members of the faculty.
A
Kudo to Laurie Kolpas for her leadership in directing the Science Bowl
team to a 6th place finish in our district. Laurie teachers
calculus and her students have achieved a 90%+ passing rate on the AP
exam over the past few years.
 
Kudos to Bruce Gurnick, Alonzo Wright, and Clay Housley, and their
ongoing and tireless efforts to keep computers and technology
constantly functioning and available to
every student and faculty member at Reseda High School.
A Kudo to Francis Hori for not only running th counseling office, but
serving on a variety of committees and providing endless support to 12th
grade students and senior class activities and programs.
A Kudo to Marianne Maki for leading the Envirothon team that placed 6th
in the District as well as providing extra curricular trips, camping and
similar experiences for students. Mrs. Maki also coordinates the
Multilingual Teacher Academy.
A Kudo to Roger Peterson for coordinating a successful year of after
school tutoring.
A Kudo to John Springer for all of his fine efforts making both TUPE and
the IMPACT successful programs for personal growth and
improvement at Reseda High School

Magnet Program

Kudo to Beth Bleiberg for leading the production of the Regent
Review, Beth also coordinated the Holiday program and the LA Opera
field trips. She is our Faculty Social Committee Chairperson.
A Kudo to Pat Wiley for all of her philanthropic endeavors including
Secret Santa and work with the Tarzana Medical Group providing toys and
blankets for traumatized kids.
A Kudo to David Kamenow, and his endless support to students and staff
through his graphic arts work in the Regent Connection Zone.
A Kudo to David Basi for his efforts in coordinating the faculty work on
the Single School Site Plan.
A Kudo to Ron Schwartz for all of his hard work on the International
Food Fair
     
Kudos to Vicky Arnold, Bruce Gurnick who coordinated, and Steve Hines, Gwenda Lynn, Barbara
Levi, Daniel Reidenger, Alonzo Wright, Gita Amona, Acosta, Richard Archiga, and
also retired Reseda High teacher Gail Morales, who motivated, advised,
and judged student participants in the
largest high school science fair in the San Fernando Valley, The Reseda
High Science Fair.
Kudos
to every member of the custodial staff for making our school one of the
cleanest in the district.
A Kudo to cafeteria manager Joan Kelly, and all of her staff, for the
continued support and efforts providing services and food for various
programs such as foreign language tea, Senior Class Breakfast, monthly
Humanifests, Police Academy, and Faculty events.
A Kudo to Joe Odom for leading his hard working sound and stage crew,
and for being there whenever need providing sound for productions,
meetings, dances and student activities.
A Kudo to Frank Treece for his endless efforts this year as Athletic
Director.

Kudo to Paul Miller for hosting Coffee House Readers every morning, as
well as coordinating monthly Humanifest Events, and countless curricular
field trips.
A Kudo to Chris Mauer for leading the music program in several
competitions and in beginning a new era in musical excellence at
Reseda High.
A Kudo to Jason Steinberg whose swim team members finished in high
standing at City Finals.
A Kudo to Leona Warman whose tirelessly coordinates the English Language
Learner program. Efforts include monthly meetings for ELL parents,
testing, counseling, and award and recognition programs.
A Kudo to Marilyn Udoji and her continuous effort to see that every
student goes to college.

A Kudo to Elise Cayen for her successful Dance Recital and her support
for students through the various programs administered through the 21st
Century Learning Grants and Connection Zone.
 
Kudos to Karen Nichols, Marcy Angel, and Dianna Stewart for an excellent
student Art Show.
A Kudo to Harold Starr for his excellent coordination of the Reseda
Family of Schools Literacy Fair held at the end of May.

boy's tennis team.

administration of the various State Mandated testing programs including
CAT 6.
A Kudo to Frank Garcia and his drama students for their successful
productions, Dracula and Bye Bye Birdie.
Kudos to Daniel Nishi and Daniel Kawamoto who led the volleyball team to
semi-finals in the Invitational Division of the District.

Kudo to April Hood for stepping into the vacated position of Literacy
Coach and doing an outstanding job of promoting reading and literacy at
Reseda High

Kudo to Dale Futaran for her tireless effort in changing our
school library into the Reseda High Library Media Center.
A Kudo to Sam Koskela for several years of hard work, building the love of
reading in students through the Accelerated Reader and STAR Reading
Assessment Programs in the
Library Media Center.
A Kudo to Maria Chavez for preparing students for the LA Marathon
A Kudo to Alicai Moran for producing the ESL awards assembly for our
English Language Learners.
 
Kudos to Mac Moncrief, Steve Kingery, and Steve Caminity for coaching
the boys and girls track teams to league championships. The boys
team ended the year 9th in city.
A Kudo to Cathy Diaz-Rubin for coordinating Project Citizen, a grant
encouraging student projects that address public policy issues.
A Kudo to new drafting teacher Chris Monaster for guiding students in
many city wide drafting and architecture programs and competitions.
There
are those who do a most excellent job, tirelessly giving of
themselves, without publicity or fanfare,
who promote quiet, subtle, or significant successes in our students. We often never
hear about these people. We offer this final Kudo to you who have
gone unmentioned here. You know who your are.
